We are pleased to announce our workshop series - a program for future distillers and those with some experience. We will to cover everything from fruit selection, mashing, and the actual distillation process to the legal aspects of starting a distillery in North America. Robert Birnecker, PhD and Sonat Birnecker Hart, PhD as well as other presenters will be giving insights into the practice of distilling and starting a distillery.
 
The Sensory Seminar will provide an insight into proper tasting of eaux de vie, vodkas, whiskeys, grappas and liqueurs. Participants will sample over 75 different products and learn to identify positive as well as negative aspects of distillates.

This course will provide participants with fundamental knowledge in starting and operating distilleries. A number of presenters will explain topics such as distilling equipment, fermentation, flavor development, legal aspects, sales and marketing. This course is intended for distillers looking to improve their operations, those interested in learning advanced techniques and aspiring distillers with a basic knowledge interested in starting a craft distillery. Students will be divided into groups of five for case study work and the hands on training.

On the first day fundamentals will be reviewed to insure a basic common understanding of distilling and needs for startup distilleries. The second day will focus on legal and business requirements as well as introduce students to alcohol flavor development techniques. Day three will address advanced equipment considerations including data logging and automation. In addition, Sales and Marketing topics will be discussed. Day four will be spent working on equipment. On the last day, students will present their case studies and evaluate sensory samples of spirits.

Upon completion, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion from Kothe Distilling Technologies.

Breakfast and snacks will be provided for all days.  
 

HANDS ON TRAINING

Kothe offers training that can suite your personal needs, no matter what your skill level. We offer three to five day trainings at distilleries in the United States and in Europe. All training will be conducted with experienced distillers and you will be able to get real hands on experience in mashing, distilling and blending.
 
 
2 day trainings are $4500 in the US 
 
The following modules can be discussed during your individual training that we are going to compile together with you. In the United States, Instruction is provided by factory trained technician, distillers, business consultant with MBA and licensed attorney in the United States.Training will take place in Chicago, IL.
In Europe the consultation is provided by factory trained technicians, distillers and one of Europe's leading experts, a professors of fermentation and distillation and frequent judge in international competitions. Training will take place near Stuttgart, Germany. Other locations may be possible.
